Churches
I am not overly Holy I suppose, but my rant is going to ask what happens to all the money that gets collected when the plate goes around? I understand the basic costs of having a building ie; Lights, heat, up keep. But I was given a service call on Friday to go a church in my work area I wont mention any names but I found some problems with the steam boiler and said I would have come to back this week to give it a yearly maintenance. So fast forward to today I am there with the new apprentice and we began cleaning the boiler, we get it all brushed and vacuumed out and I being a some what nice guy fired the boiler back up so the said church would have heat while we were at lunch. Still had to service the oil burner after lunch. So the boiler starts mind you this thing is bigger then my service van and I see the front section move a little, there are like 25 sections all held together by long nuts and bolts well 3 out of the four nuts are missing. Not good at all so I find a nut and put on said boiler and inform the man that is old enough to be my grandfather that the condition of this thing is bad and a delayed ignition could cause a problem. He says to me its been like that for years and sees nothing to be alarmed about. So I brush him off and continue then I start said piece of crap again and the asbestos insulation I see move like a coat catching wind cause all the gasket material is bad in between the sections so I had to get my supervisor in to look at it he agrees time to replace but the guy thinks I'm just wasting the churches money. I was like yea you'd probably save a fortune in oil bills if you got rid of the 100 year old P.O.S. Jeez not everyone is trying to rip people off. Sorry folks but that is rant for the day but other wise all is good I love April more and more everyday she can make me crazy but God do I know I drive her nuts hahahahaha. Well Happy Hump day

If I had to guess I would figure with the economy churches all over are probably seriously hurting. When you make less money you give less to the church and it has to run on what donations they bring in. When a church is well attended and has a large congregation it's easier to come by money. Smaller church and congregation a little more difficult. (I used to be a youth director, just more useless info I store in my brain).

That stinks...the problem is people that don't understand what you are talking about (like me, I knew JACK about furnaces/boilers until we started dating) are automatically on the defense, thinking companies are trying to rip them off. And what STINKS is that they WOULD end up saving money in the long run, but I think they just don't understand that! And people don't expect their service man/repairman/HVAC to be a nice guy like you who is TRUTHFUL with them. :-)
